For Mom with LOVE

I love making these kinds of cards.. and because Mother's day is coming up, I thought that it would be the perfect card for my Mom... She has Macular Degeneration and can't see too much at all.. So I had to make a card that she can feel... so the paper is all dotted swissed... and all the edges are done with Martha's Hearts... and all frilly like... she will love this one... and will most likely show it to all the ladies in the Assisted Living building she is living in... Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there... Have a wonderful day...

Queen for the Day.... a casing

On the left is the card I made... the one below is the original that I cased... done by Carol of Pennsylvania...

I used different color purples, and also different stamp. I also used pearls and a shape to my black paper, vs. the square.. I think I used the same method of coloring... which is Karen Barbers favorite technique... BLACK MAGIC... I used copic white and then colored with colored pencils... I also used my spellbinders and Martha punches... and a cuddlebug for the button trim on the bottom...

Congrats Carol on being Queen for the Day... wear your crown proudly... and enjoy every minute of it...
Hope you enjoyed this... I had fun doing it... that is for sure..
Have a wonderful day... and create something fun to enjoy... and share it with someone else..

Technique Class

It's a happy day when I can teach others what I know... I love to share ideas and how to's... so here are some of the samples that I made to share the resist techniques...

Each one is a little different and I have used different papers and of course some different stamps too.. .

I love this one.. it literally was the last card I did for the class... and it really happened in a magical way...

There was a piece of vellum on the work table.. and I punched some butterflies out... it just looked like something that would be pretty as a butterfly... and then I saw this piece of paper... and punched out the butterfly in that too.. as if the butterfly came from it... Magic Happens...

I used some reinkers, cardstock, and archival ink pads... I love them, as they always give you a nice crisp print.. I also used the butterfly template from Spellbinders... and Martha's butterfly corner and border punches...

Blooms... Another print using glossy paper this time, and also using Ranger re-inkers... I love them as the colors are so very versitile and pretty... I used lime and Aqua on this... and then a little tiny 1/16th of a drop of red pepper... a little goes a long way...

This is one that is did the Ghost Stamping techinique on.. and I love it... I tried when taking the pictures of these cards to get the different layers of ink... so as you can see here there are birds and butterflies stamped in the background and then the Inkadinkadoo tree in the for ground...

I used a couple of Spellbinders to cut out the papers and then mounted it...

A little ribbon that runs inside the card... Love to use it that way... adds a nice touch of ribbon on the inside too..

These colors look like they clash... but it is the light when I took these pictures... it was 4 in the afternoon in the studio and the sun was shining in... and not good for picture taking... it distorts the color on me...

Anyway... this was done with a kaleidocolor ink pad... Blue Breeze I think is the name.. .and then I added flowers around the edge.. adn then one large on the side...

A little of Martha Loop punching and it is finished..

Another Ghost stamping, but this time I embossed the butterfly onto the paper... then I cut it and counted onto a piece of paper that was border punched...

As you cah see there were three butterfly stamps used on this print...

This background started out as a light lavender ... and I can't really tell what it is now.. but I do like it... I added sepia and russet stampings on the side.. and then black lettering...

I made a layered paper flower and then also punched some from a Martha Stewart punch.. . a little bow... and Voila' done...

With Love... this was created with citrus, and aqua inks... and it looks like a like tan... but it wasn't suppose to be... anyway.. I added some sepia and russet flowers around the edges... and also a little red pepper on the print...

Used a Distressing pad on the edges... adn then mounted on a black punched mat...

I used a Fancy butterfly sticker ... I love those.. and can't always find them... but I have a place now to get them. .so I am one happy camper...

This card has a paper flower made from pages of a book... and then the daisy is stamped onto the paper..

Hope that you have enjoyed all these cards...

Thanks for visiting Love, Light and Peace.... Bonnie

By the Sea

After I made my card, I then went into the gallery to see the other cards and to leave comments… There were so many really pretty cards… and all kinds of different ways of creating this challenge… but I really loved the way that Peggy Elms had used the embossed paper background… just added a really nice touch… So I have cased her card here… with a little of my own stuff too..

I am teaching a class on Saturday showing how to do different types of techniques… so am playing with glossy papers, reinkers and all that… so my work space is covered with that… so I created these background papers, and layered them and put the embossed papers in between them… And then added the sea critters for a by the sea touch…

This is actually not a card, but a panel for a book… Thanks Peggy for the inspiration… love it…

Have a nice day and enjoy something during the day that makes you really happy…

Thanks for taking a look at my card…

Love, Light and Peace....Bonnie

Menu to make:

Ranger reinkers, Kaleidocolor ink pads, Brilliance platinum , Archival black, stazon white, Twinkling H20’s and chalks…

White glossy paper, and also white cardstock, The Green is bazzill paper; I also used some die cuts from Provo and cuddlebug. Shell stamp is from Impression Obsession and the sand dollar is from Walmart foam squares that were 86 cents…

Plaids and prints...

Love this sketch challenge.. Four in the back and one in the front… love it… Thanks Roxie… great design to play with…

I chose to use some Purple prints to play with and then made a few with a resist technique… Then of course it needed something else… and that would be flowers… so I made some little white flowers with pink centers… added a tag and some pearls…

Easy as all get out.. and I love all the layers it creates…

Hope you have a wonderful day, a little chilly down here in the south… so stay comfortable no matter where you are… Thanks for taking a look at my card…

Resist Papers

Okay... today's Challenges were really a lot of fun for me.. Number one... The Tea Pot Tuesday GANG had to do a card with Daisies... My favorite flower of all times... Due to the fact that Glenn and I had a daisy wedding, he always picks me tons of daisies all year long, and I just love the sweet little faces of these fun flowers...

Then the color challenge by Betty... she had us use some really pretty colors... Old Olive, Blue Ballet and also Banana... so they were perfect to combine the two challenges... and so I did...

The first card which is below...
I made quite a few backgrounds prior to being satisfied.. This Saturday I am also teaching a few friends some Techniques... so I wanted some examples... and wanted this card especially to be soft and caring... so I used a daisy stamp so that it would resist the cool peri reinker by Ranger... and then I added a few spellbinder templates... and a few stamped daisies... there were also cut out and another daisy put on the top of each one of the corner ones..
I added the pale yellow ribbon and the centers of the flowers for the banana color... My old olive is around the saying.. and we were allowed to add a red embellishment... so I added a tiny little button... just for that little red touch...

The other card... the one on the top, I used a another daisy stamp.. and then resisted a pale yellow reinker... love the look of that paper... so soft and pretty... used the blue and green for around that card... and also punched some daisies with a martha daisy punch... Made some paper flowers, and added a butterfly made with the spellbinder set... The little lady bug is a Stampin Up stamp... can't remember who gave that to me... but it was so cute... had to use it...

I used yellow liquid pearls for the centers of the paper daisies...

I had fun with these cards... and love the resist papers I was able to use to give that softer look...

Well tonight we have a Pearly Girls meeting... and we exchange books... for more on this, look at the blog on the right side.. Art Between the Pages... it will show you the pages I have made for these books... it is a fun progressive book group...

See you all later... Love, Light and Peace...Bonnie

Asian Delights

Oh Happy, Happy, Happy Saturday... and I am hoping that we do get SOME rain today... we really need SOME rain... not tons... SOME... I am hoping that the weather understands this... we usually either get too much... or too little... so SOME would be nice for the plants... it would make us all happy here...

As you will read below... these cards were done for a number of challenges... but the one on the left I just had to do... I love this stamp... it is by Stampington and Company... and she is so sweet ... hope that you like here too.. The paper on the right... washi paper was bought from a little Asian man at the convention every year... He is from Atlanta and has the prettiest Washi papers... I love them...My husband always reminds me to go get some.. (Like I really need to be reminded... but it is sweet of him to remember that I love that paper...) This particular piece is really lovely... you aren't getting the full colors in it... but there is a lovely TEAL and shades of greens that really are wonderful... ... the other piece of paper I created with H20's... what else...

This card was created on many different levels… first off the background is a copy of a painting that I did a few months ago… with a Zia stamp… and also some gingko leaves.. with a relief technique that Zia taught me.. Which is very lengthy and with wonderful results… that painting is 11X15 and hanging on my wall… I love it. So I copied it into the computer.. and then printed it out… and used it as a background paper for this card… Also I used another gingko leaf stamp and also a urn stamp to create this Asian card… for a very dear friend… Pat Adams, that also teaches at Marco’s Paper... She is a very sweet friend and loves Asian cards… so this will be sent to her..

The other background papers I made with painting with Twinkling H20’s…at two different times… they are scraps of larger sheets… added the silk flower to the urn for effect and dimension.

This card is also for three different challenges too..

On Thursday the challenge was to create a card with different printed papers… this card has that…

On Friday the challenge was to create a ‘vacation’ card… or a place where we would like to take a virtual trip etc… so this card is that also.. I always wanted to go to Asia to paint the people… love to capture them into watercolors and pieces of art work.. I almost made it… as I was appointed head of the psychiatric unit on the Ship Hope… but a week prior to getting my shots, I met Glenn, my husband.. and had a very deep feeling about him… so I canceled the trip/work and have been very happily married for over 40 years at this point… YEAH.. so I didn’t get to go to Asia to paint the people in that manner, but I still have Asia in my heart… and love my Asian stamp collection.

Today’s challenge was to go to Green Rainbow… which Stef.. that was a bad place to send me… I bought way too much!!!! Might not be married next month when the bill comes in… but I had fun… anyway… I thought that I had better get the Asian card made and done with… and so here it is… I do hope that you like it… I know that not many Asian cards are shown on SCS…but I still hope you enjoy this…

Happy Earth Day… which should be every day of the year… we need to clean up the EARTH big time… End of advertisement… thanks…

Have a Fun Creative Day…

Love, Light and Peace…. Bonnie

Perfecto....

Perfecto...
This is a card that I made for a challenge.. the challenge was to case Cathleen's (ctorina) gallery... wow... it is one fantastic gallery... so is her blog.. since she is a Paper Doll, you can get to her blog directly from here... she site is listed below where all the Paper Dolls are... go and visit... That is why I can call this card perfecto... as her cards are all perfect... in all ways..

I wanted to keep up with making my Christmas cards... and I wanted to make this type of card... so I combined the two of these projects... I did get 10 of these made.. .and so that is why I also drew the poinsettia and will add it to Pretties by Bonnie for all of you that need a poinsettia that perfect size... when you use a digital, you can create your own size with it.. .from the size of a dime to 12 x 12 ... you choice... I added a few other flowers, a bow and some holly leaves from Martha's holly punch.. and of course the top and bottom borders are both from the Lattice punch by Martha...

Hope you have had a nice day.. and I am about ready to do a rain dance... we really need rain for the plants... they are screaming for water... so please send your rain to us... thanks in advance... not too much now.... just the right amount..

Sketch Cards...

Both of these cards were done for sketches.. .and I have to say I had fun with them..

This one was for Roxies sketch.. .and I really love the papers I used.. they are K and Company and the brown has to be one of my all time favorites..

The white circle is made from a Blue Hill punch.. lotus is the name... love that too.. the rest I think you all know..

Of course I added a flower and wreath from Pretties by Bonnie...

I do enjoy using those images...

This card was done for Midnight Madness Sketch... and I really had a little bit of trouble doing it.. I was so tired and wanted to play... so I sat until something came to me... falling asleep a couple of times sitting at my work table.. .but I refused to give in... by the time I finished it, I was way to tired to take a picture and post it.. so I waited until this morning anyway... LOL

But I did get it done.. .

Thanks for taking a look at these cards...

Hope you had a fun day..

A fun card

This card is for Mother Marks Teapot Tuesday... and it is always a hoot... no matter what she is a hoot herself... I love her... and her stories are so funny... so I have to play along each week.. it is contagious..

So this week in fact check here and you can read all about what she says... the stories are so funny.... and I love them...

So after reading that you can maybe understand why I decided to make my race horse a flamingo???? Not really... well I guess you would have to be at the challenge every week... to understand that it is fun challenge and everything goes.. .and the funnier it is the better it is... Just a barrel of laughs...

This is what I wrote about my card...

Okay... enough is enough... I certainly don't mind racing... but hey this had has to go... you know I have done a lot of silly and funny things... but this is really below me... it has a TURQUOISE BOW... and pink flowers... and then the under bow is also turquoise with ORANGE POLKA DOTS.... come on ladies ... you can't really expect me to race wearing this silly hat can you??? All my friends (the ones you see in the background) have totally shunned me... they refuse to say that they know me... or even that I am a flamingo??? I guess maybe I am something else now... who knows... but enough is enough... HELP... please don't make me race with this hat on...

Hope you enjoyed your day... I also posted another project on my Art Between the pages blog... so please go there to see that one too.. .thanks...

Starting the week off perfectly !!!!

Wow today's challenge was done by Vicki Dutcher and she told us to make a card with piercing on it... GREAT idea... I haven't done that in a very long time and I do so love to do it... so I went into my library of designs and chose one... and this one just kept on jumping up and hitting me in the face... so I did it, and knew that it was going to be a white on white card... wanted to do one with piercing all in white for a long time... and today was the day...

Also put a backing of paper with some of Martha's punching going on around the paper... and then of course I had to add a white on white butterfly with dotted swiss action going on... what else.. .

Put the butterfly on some spellbinders... just to give it some place to land... with a little bow and some pearls on the top and bottom... I love it... I love creating all white cards... yikes... they are so much fun.. Have you ever made one.. try it... just keep on building and building until you are satisfied with what you have created...

WEll I also have another post I want you to take a look at...
I joined a group of gals that are called the Pearly Girls... and we all started out with a book, and a theme of our own... and the book is being passed around to each and every one of us... I had my friend Victoria's and you can see the pages I created by going to www.artbetweenthepages.blogspot.com or just click on the picture on the ride side of the blog... you will see them all there.. .I really had a lot of fun creating them.. Hope you enjoy them too..

Thanks for stopping by and visiting me for a while... love having you come over.. if you stop by, leave a message and I will try and stop by your blog too.. thanks again...

Okay... I am hopefully back in the swing of things for a while... this past week was a little hairy... I had a nice day on Tuesday... making cards for all the Challenges... and then we had a busy afternoon with garden things... and then I went out for an evening with the Pearly Girls... that is a group that I just recently joined to make a Round Robin book with all different themes... I loved all the pages that had been created this past week.. .

Wednesday was a blur of things for farm, garden and also setting up a gal to come and clean the house on regular basis... YEAH!!!! I really like her too... good thing... And we also went up to Madison County... which is really a lovely area of Western North Carolina... it is right next to Tennessee... and in the higher mountains... we went to look at a pair of Mules... You can see them if you go to the farm page... I will post them after this... they are loves.. And we bought them.. a long process... but we did...

Thursday was Whipperstampers meeting... okay... so you just go... wrong.. I have to pack up all the goodies that everyone wanted... and then sort thru all the fat book pages and get them into order... and then work on class info etc... and then pack up and go.. .Not much... it just all takes time.. and I move slower than I use too... LOL... oh well.. I think I have a lot more on my mind too..

The rest of the week.... I truly can't remember what all happened.. .but I do know that it was a blur of things... and so today... Sunday I have taken the time to sit and BLOG.... Happy Sunday... hope that this week is a little bit more peaceful and I will have time to do some Challenges... YEAH!!!!

Thanks for being so patient... but I have post three cards that we did on Thursday... Hope you will enjoy them... and thanks for stopping by... Love, Light and Peace...Bonnie

April's Victorian Blouse

I loved the way this card came out... I didn't use the same measurements as April did... mine is a little bit smaller... but I love the way it came out...

I put some extra trim around the neck... and also on the inside panel.. but had fun with it...

A simple little card that you can dress up or down... really cute...

Thanks April for sharing this with us all..

After you open it, this is the inside...

Gate way card

I cannot remember what Renee called this card that she showed us how to create.. This was a real procedure plus... and I don't think I would make another one of these characters... Too much measuring and too much ado about nothing... but a nice card... but not that nice... just not my cup of tea...

I stamped the front of the card with resist and then used chalks to color the stamping... and added a lotus template from Spellbinders... love that template... I think it is one of my favorites...

Then I added the center of the 'flower' image and when you open the card entirely you will see the other flower image...

The inside of the card also was done with resist and chalks... so pretty... I love the softness of that technique...

Then when the card is entirely open you wee this...

Pretty neat card... but a little too detailed for me... I like to put my detail in other areas.. not in measuring...

Thanks Renee for all the hard work on this card...

Pop out card...

Okay... so this one has a funny story to it... at least it is funny to me... My dear friend Marie sent me this card with the directions... I couldn't sleep so I got up at 3am and went to the computer to read e-mail... I got her letter, with a picture of this card and the directions... and I tried to fold it... and I thought it looked sort of like the card... but it was 3 in the morning and my eyes were not seeing the picture correctly??? At least I didn't think it was... oh well.. I finally printed the sheet out... and tried to follow the directions, but they were not too good... and so I looked at the picture again.. folded it again... and put it all aside.. I will attack this tomorrow ... that was my feeling...

Later that same day, but during sunlight, I looked at the picture again, and it didn't look that much different... ??? Crazy card.. so I think the first way I had made it was correctly... anyway... that is the way it was going to stay...

So I had a piece of the quilted paper from the cards on Tuesday... or maybe it was Monday... this past week was a blurrrrr.. totally a blur..
and I took a marker and made the black lines... and cut it into pieces to fit the card... Then I made some ruffled flowers... and used a new Distress pad (Tim Holtz... love them... got the new ones... oh wow... nice colors... ) to create an vintage look for the flowers... added a few leaves and a couple of bows... and called it a card...

Hope you have enjoyed all these cards that we made the other night... AND Thanks so very much for being so very patient with me... hope you have enjoyed your visit here... and come on back tomorrow to Art Between the Pages... as there will be lots of goodies on there...

Color Challenge colors for this week....

Betty asked me to make some samples up for this weeks challenge… and of course I said YES… sure would love to…

So the colors are so very pretty… Some that SU is retiring.. so here they are… Blush Blossom, Cameo Coral, Ruby Red, with caramel or cocoa as dessert… WOW.. what fun this is going to be.. So off to my play area… and grabbed all the colors… and sat down to think about what kind of card I wanted to create…

Well the card that Cathleen(ctorina) did the other day was really sticking in my brain… so I had to try that technique of punching.. that was one thing that my card would have… and all of a sudden 10 different ideas came flooding into my brain.. and trying to get them all down at once was next to impossible… so that is why I ended up with two cards for this.. but that is okay…One would be pretty and sweet and delicate… and the other one artsy and fun… I let the colors speak and I after it was all over… I had inky fingers… and a mess in my studio… and it was all 100% FUN…

Hope you like them…

I drew the flower from a card I fell in love with about 3-4 months ago… and I can not ever tell you who’s card it was… The paper lace, of course it made with a Martha deep vine punch… and the word space is made with Spell binders… I used my Twinkling H20’s to paint the rose… used just a little tiny bit of olive green on the leaves… other wise the leaves are cocoa…

I also used the Dotted Swiss Cuddlebug on the background… and the rest as they say is history…

Thanks again Betty for asking me to sample out this delightful color challenge.. it was a lot of fun…

I hope that you all have fun with this one too.. I hope the gallery is filled to the hilt with all kinds of wonderfully OUTRAGEOUS CARDS…

This card just had to be made… It was something that has been bugging me a long long time… do you ever have that kind of thing happen… well these wonderful colors really allowed me to get it all down really easy…

I used a Tim Holtz distressing pad on the white 5x7 card… then I took a piece of blush bloom and tore the edges and then distressed that with some Opaque white from Copic (it is in a jar) and using my finger spread it all around the paper… then I made the ruby red strip… and using a maker… made the tulips… and then outlined them in white gel.. and then distressed the edges with Black soot distressing pad by Tim Holtz… and also some white copic on that too… Then I stamped some critters with WINGS on Cameo Coral and Blush Blossom, and after distressing them with inks, I chose two that really stood out and mounted them onto the black area…

I then cut out a “Pretties by Bonnie” image… and put part of it on the side… (the black flower and leaves) I wrote the word WINGS… added a few Blush Blossom dots… and took some pictures of it.. .

Two very different cards… and I have to say I totally enjoyed using these colors together Betty.. they were fun to use and play with… GREAT together…

Thanks for taking a look and also thanks for leaving any comments…

Love, Light and Peace....Bonnie

Yellow Delight

Oh this all started because Cathleen created this really knock out gorgeous card ... Oh it is really wonderful... anyway... I love it so much... and cant' really get it out of my brain... so I had to try and use the main part of it with this card... which is also a casing of another gal, who I can't think of her name right now... but her cards are really very nice... creative in so many ways...

So I combined the two of them...
I used the Trellis punch by Martha for the top and the bottom of this card... (5X7 in size) and used the yellow paper to show off the punching a little more...
Then I used my dotted swiss folder to create the back ground... and added some of the Flowers...

which were created with the Spellbinder Sunflower templates... with some mustard distressing ink on the pedals... used a golden paper for the centers... and used all tiny scraps... so they are all different colors too..

Added a few smaller flowers, and the big yellow organza bow for a nice big touch..

When you open the card you see what is above.. I couldn't really get good pictures today of this card... it is weird the way it looks... but just study it and you will see how it opens...

The center pops out... and there are cut outs... one is an oval and the outer done in the white is a large scalloped oval... one of the newer ones... very nice and soft looking.. Added a saying on the inside... "Beautiful things are seen with the eye... they are felt with the heart..." So VERY true..

the flowers on the inside are also sunflowers... and I also used the mustard distressing ink pad on these too... love Ranger products...

I had a lot of fun using this punch method... but you will see more of this tomorrow... I have some more cards to share with you later too... but can't show you now...

It's a secret... until about 12 tonight... come on back... shhhhhhh.....

A special GIFT for a Special Person

I had bought this container and really didn't know what I was going to do with it... (actually I bought 2... one for me and one for someone??? but didn't know who.) and all of a sudden I realized not only how I was going to finish it, but also who I was going to make it for... a surprise at this point... sorry I can't tell .. as I know that she visits here from time to time...

Anyway... I painted 9 different pieces of paper with Twinkling H2's... (I wonder how many time a day I write that ???)
Then I cut the section off that I wanted of each piece... Oh I saved all the rest of the paper... I will use every little piece of it... believe me..

Then I painted the entire container gold on the out side... and spritzed the inside(below) with Twinkling H2's... I didn't do the inside with solid color at all.. just splattered looking ...

Then I wanted a very special trim and started to look in the studio for something I really loved... and in between that , I
cleaned out all the cabinets as I was looking... a huge bag of stuff that was recycled.. had to do it.. or add an addition to the studio... LOL.. not really funny... but you get the idea..

Anyway I found this special trim... and put that onto the container along with the brocade also... and then the brass findings for the opening...

Scroll down...

The top comes off .... and then it opens...

To have these four wonderful compartments to hold all kinds of goodies..

I love it.. and I just hope that the person I am giving it too will too.. I am pretty sure she will...

Just so that you know.. the container is about 8 inches tall.. and about 5 inches in diameter... a good size to hold a lot of 'stuff'

Thanks for taking a look... and also for visiting my blog... take a look at the other blogs I have added... one is on the books I make... or take part in making.. and then there is one on our Farm...

WE are taking a short trip up the mountain today to go food shopping... it is a nice ride.. 40 miles one way... (to get food.. We only eat organic... so the trip is worth it... ) The highway is lined with all kinds of beautiful flowering trees... the Red tip maples down here are a wonderful sight... they look like flowering plum trees... this beautiful color of purples, violets and pinks... (no red... don't know where they got the name.) But it will be a very very nice afternoon... will be back later to play and leave some comments...

Have a fun day... and enjoy the beautiful day...

My World...

Oh todays challenge was to create a card that showed our favorite place where we lived now or use to live... so... I certainly chose where I am living now... I have many fond and wonderful years of living in NJ... but I have to say that my heart is now 100% in North Carolina Mountains... So here is what I stated about my card on line...

I think I live in a perfect place for ME... it is my world... and I love it.. every bit of it.. I live in the mountains but have views on our land of 360 degree views of mountains... beautiful ones too... Did you know that the highest mountain on the east coast is in NC... it is Mount Mitchell... and when it snows we can see the mountain off in the distance... it is lovely. And they are purple mountains too.. with the green when you are closer.. it is beautiful where I live to me... the Spring is a wonderful time... the pink dogwoods in our yard are prolifically blooming in these deep pink colors.. and then all of a sudden you see a white one blooming off in the distance... our lawn is surrounded by every color azalea you can think of.. I think there has to be over 25 different varieties of them surrounding the space between our lawn and the natural woods surrounding the house area of our farm... Can you tell I am in love with where I live... it is our dream to have a farm and to live in the mountains... and now we do... DREAMS do come true...

Okay... so here is how I created this card..

I started off by tearing paper to create my mountains... and then glued them together and cut them out with a spellbinder.... then I ran a distressing pad (Old Paper) over it to create that rustic look... Mounted that onto a piece of dotted swiss paper.. My background paper I painted with my trusty Twinkling H20's... and then spritzed solar gold onto it for a very regal look.. I am sure you can't see it.. but it glistens in real life... using my H20's I painted some Dog Wood flowers from Pretties by Bonnie (digital Images for sale on my other blog... go take a look they are fun to use... )The centers of the flowers are popped and the nI used Tim Holtz's Distressing Pearls for the center stamen. I cut them out and then drew the tree ... as there are so many wonderful full trees in NC... huge trees.. and I love them all.. I used again a distressing pad (peeled paint ) to distress the top of the tree.. and a marker to color in the bark area...

I had a lot of fun creating this... and hope it is a pretty card to you... because I live in a VERY PRETTY PLACE.... and I love it...

Hope that you have a nice visit here on my blog... and thanks so much for stopping by... leave a comment or two around... and also take a look at our farm... you can see it by clicking on the side right panel... Sunshine Valley Organic Farm... that's our little piece of heaven...

Quilting with Paper

Todays Challenge was to create a card using quilting... so that was a GREAT challenge for me... I love to quilt with fabrics, but haven't gotten into quilting with papers.. so this was a really good thing...

My first card... which is below... I did the famous Log Cabin pattern... starting off with a 1x1 inch square... and then adding the length as it grows... always a fun pattern... I made it a little different in that I used green on two sides and pink on two sides... when that goes into a quilt it is wonderful... the quilt looks like it is really moving... I love doing these types of quilts... anyway.. back to paper... I added a martha lace border and then decided it needed some thing
else... So I stamped an Inka stamp and colored it with H20's and then a few paper flowers distressed and a bow... done... the saying is one that I had bought a long time ago and have to say I have not used it too often... but it was perfect for todays card...

Okay now for the other card...(the first one) I love Seminole style quilting.. and wanted a little bit of a different look with this card...
To make seminole style, I took all kinds of scraps of paper that I had painted with my H20's... ( I really can't throw that away... no matter how small it is... ) I cut a piece of white paper about 8.5 inches long and about 6 inches tall... and then I glued the H20 papers onto it slanted.. (on an angle...) and then cut it in half and that is what I used here on either end... I have the center of the piece left over.. so I can use that on another card.. I wanted a very spacy look for the center... and so I painted ever so lightly with a pale blue and a gold... and then mounted the two side pieces ... now for the butterfly!!!! I painted another piece of paper with Med. Blue and GOLD... and then used the Spellbinder butterfly set and cut out one of each size... and mounted one on top of the other... for the butterfly... Added some pearls for the body... and done..

HOpe you will try this type of quilting.. it is easy and I think very effective for so many uses... I am working on a container using sort of the same type of thing... will share that with you when I am done...

Hope you have a wonderful day... Love, Light and Peace... Bonnie

ASPARAGUS

I love asparagus...
I have a story I have to tell you about asparagus...
Because I love asparagus, I wanted to plant them in the garden when we lived in NJ... and every spring I would say that I was going to buy some crowns and plant them... but it takes two years after planting them to pick any... and we were always going to move... so after 30 years of hearing that... I got tired of saying it.. and we never had our own asparagus!!!!

So when we moved here to NC... and we had an organic farm... I really wanted ASPARAGUS!!!! And so three days ago we started to pick our own asparagus from our own gardens.... YEAH!!!! THEY are delicious too...
WE have lots of them too... enough to satisfy my 40 year desire for them...

Anyway... I wanted to share that story with you, as you will see that I am using a lot of asparagus stamping in some of my projects now... and you might wonder why... and it is only that I am one happy person eating all the organic asparagus I can... LOL... love them.

I am putting this card here... as a sample of the other ones below and my happy day with my friend Mary... read below...

HOpe you enjoy this fun technique... this one I did use a stamp with... into the white opaque ink by copic... but the ones below are all with the pinkie... have fun...

finger tip painting ???

The other day I had bought a little jar of this White Opaque paint by Copic... and wasn't really sure how it was going to work for me... I wanted it for highlights on things when I painted... so that it hopefully wouldn't bleed thru the other colors...

But when I opened the little jar, I was dumbfounded as the 'paint' is like a gel... so how do I use it... ??? with a brush, or a pen???

Anyway it was sitting on my work table and a friend, Mary came over and I showed it to her... as she has copic pens and might know... and she is an artist... so maybe... she would know???

I stuck my finger into the jar to show her that it was thick... etc... and she did the same.. and then proceeded to dab her finger onto the piece of black scrap paper I had put in front of her... well before too long... she had a cute little flower and a bunch of grapes...

Well I got some other pieces of black and started to dab on some of it to... and then since it dries almost as quickly as it is applied, I was able to go over the pedals of the flowers and color them... a sort of black magic, but not using a stamp... using your finger... I created a few of these flowers and then, of course had to turn them into cards...

Here are a few that I did... I love the delicate little
flowers and then I added stems with a gold gel pen... and then colored them all in with colored pencils...

Most of the background papers that are 'solids' are made by me, with my twinkling H20's... I do love them... as you know...

I hope that by this time you can see where I have used some of Marthas punches and also spellbinder die templates...

Thanks for stopping by today and taking a look... I hope you will try to finger paint with some acrylics as I think it will do the same thing...

A garden of Good Wishes

Today being Wednesday it is sketch Challenge and Roxie the hostess always has a new and different sketch for us to play with... I always have fun trying to create something a little different with these sketches... and today I used another way of creating my background...

I used a 6x6 stamp made by Impression Obsession and printed out the floral paper... I used sepia, and black inks on the stamp... and printed onto glossy paper for the crisp print... I love it..

Then I used a piece of thin handmade paper for the right side of the card... made a square using Martha's punches... and then added a medallion... for those you who are not familiar with tea bag folding... you start off with some squares... the ones I started out with are ones that I made, with my own designs... and printed them out into 1.5 inch squares... and then I folded 8 of them all the same way to created this wreath... I then glued the wreath to a piece of peach cardstock... and created the place for the scalloped circluar message...

Then it just needed something... so I added a 'ruffle' flower and leaves from Pretties by Bonnie... if you have not checked out my other blog... it is easy to get too... just click on the button on the right hand side that says "Pretties by Bonnie" and it will link you directly to that site... hope you enjoy all the fun things there...

Then I added a few little paper flowers with different colors to add to the softness of the card...
Thanks for taking a look and do hope you have a wonderful day...

A recipe book

This is the right page...

A book of Recipes

One of the gals in the Book group called Pearly Girls… created a book for recipes to be put into… So… I gave her some… in fact 8 recipes…

I wanted to show her some of the recipes that were in my cook book… as she is allergic to wheat… which I do use in my cook book… but the wheat can be substituted for other grains like rice and flax… which most people are not allergic to… also I wanted to introduce her to a new grain… Quinoa… which is really a very ancient grain… but most people are not aware of it.. and it is delicious and quick cooking… and very nutritious for you in so many ways.. .unlike wheat… which does very little other to clog up our plumbing… LOL.. .not funny but true..

So I started off with creating the back ground papers… I did a technique called ghost stamping… which is really very easy… gives a very unique look to the page though…

#1. You start off Glossy paper… and with a resist ink pad and stamp a stamp all over ….

#2. Then using a dye ink and brayer you cover the sheet with the ink and then allow it to dry for a few minutes… and then rub it off… all the ink that is… You will have a two tone paper at this point… white (which is the where you stamped) and the background which is the color ink or inks you chose to use… ( the stamp I chose to use was sage leaves by Fred Mullet)

#3. Then with Platinum Brillance, you stamp another design all over your paper…. (I used a pear)

#4. Then the final layer… you choose another stamp… this time I chose the asparagus stamp by Fred Mullet… and used a Archival Dye ink pad (Olive) to stamp all over again… This is now a completed Ghost stamped paper… and can be used for anything… Love this technique for many different things…

Okay… now I had to start to build the page up.. and I wanted to create the two cook books, so I copied the real covers of both books I published… (You can buy the original books by clicking on the book site over on the right hand side of the blog… and it will take you right to my publisher… Lulu. Com and you can purchase these books… each page in these cook books is collaged… and a lot of really great recipes that I love to use for all occasions…)

So I decided to put the books in a basket… is that a great way to carry food.. or anything that is special..??? So I had this great basket stamp… and after stamping it, distresses it with Tim Holtz Distressing Pads… and then cut the basket liner out… and put a brad so that it looked real… made a pocket to hide behind the basket… and this is where the book would sit and be safe…

On the left hand side of the page, I used the theme of Asparagus… as our asparagus are just now sprouting from the ground… and we are enjoying them every night… what a sheer pleasure they are… we love them… and generally eat them raw… like you would celery… they are very very good for you..

Behind each basket I tucked a doily looking circle punched paper… I used the Blue Hill Lotus Punch… which is wonderful… and used a light paper (computer paper) to create this… that is the only problem with these punches… you can’t use card stock at all… unless it is really really thin…

Then I made a wreath medallion… using my favorite flower.. the daisy… and a sign to eat your veggies and fruit… and added a Spellbinder border of apples along the top… I popped the apples out and colored them with my Twinkling H2O's by Dreaming in Color and then added dimension Pearls for the leaves… wow love it… it looks a lot better in real life… as everything does…

On the right side of the page, I used the theme of garlic and pears… I had to use that great garlic and pepper stamp… and also had to use the pears… as I have a recipe in there for Pear Clouforti… an all time favorite of ours… The pears are all done differently… but my favorite one is done in dimensional pearls… and each color is dotted onto the pear.. you can see it at the lower left of the basket… I added a ribbon and bow to this page… and some paper flowers… at the bow and also at the lower right hand corner of the basket…

The books are all made like the other book I have given you details on… and also each page is painted with the Twinkling H2O's by Dreaming in Color … Love it…

Now I just hope that Chris loves it too.. .and also that she uses the recipes…

Hope you have enjoyed this too…

Love, Light and Peace…Bonnie
