Making Medallions

I wanted to share a few more cards with you...  soooooo  here they are...

Since I happen to love tea bag folding I decided to create a whole edge with folded tiles...  there are double around this oval shaped card stock...  and then I found the most perfect rose and butterfly to coordinate with it..  LOVE IT...

Most of the time with tea bag folding you try and make the card as simple as possible... to draw the attention to the medallion.. and also to just enjoy the simplicity of the card...  I also love to make many layers on each card... a little conflicting at times... but I always seem to win!!!  I love this type of card, as I can do both... easy and also many layers...  this is the simple one...

**********************

And this one is a little more complicated... as it has a medallion in the center section too...

Very easy card fold... just make a normal card and then fold the front back to the center again...  easy and then you have three areas you can decorate.. love areas...

A really pretty card in so many ways... of course what hand made card isn't pretty???  I personally haven't seen too many that I don't think are really special...  just because someone has taken their time... part of their life to create something to give to someone else... that is a gift in itself...  enjoy handmade gifts of all kinds..

The pictures of this card came out very dark... ??? not really sure why... but the background on this card is wall paper... YES Sheila, I used some of the wall paper that you so graciously shared with me... I love it all... hope you know that...

This medallion is also a relative new medallion to me... and I have to say that I do love it..  looks like layers upon layers... love it ...

Well another day.. another medallion... another Card... another creation... what are you up to today???

Thanks for stopping by for a visit and hope to see you  again soon... Love, Light and Peace... Bonnie

Corner Punching...

Sometimes I love to go back over cards from the past...  and use some of the techniques that I use to use all the time... this is one of those special techniques...  CORNER PUNCHING...

Maybe I should say that this is really double punching... I love doing this as it gives such a wonderful layered look...

To create this effect.... make your original Martha Stewart corner background... then cut a piece of paper the inside of the paper lace piece...  and punch around the four corners... now measure and cut another piece of paper for the background... it can be colored, or embossed, or both... your creativity is the limit to this area...  go for it...

A close up of the medallion...  Thanks again to my good friend Penny... Love this fold Penny...  East Meets West....

Here I used a piece of paper that I had sprayed...  actually it was a piece of paper that was going to go into the 'garbage bag' but I  put some more ink on it... and used it... YES!!!

another new medallion fold...

Do you see all the layers on this one...

Loving the look of this...

Another multi layered background...  with a lot of punching...
and I had to make an envelope to go with this one...  YES!!!!

Close up of the medallion

This card shows all the detail of the punching...

And of course the medallion...
Cutting out a copy of a print really changes the look of it... but I am sure you recognize the SWING...  love this picture... it was an all time favorite of our daughters too...

Well folks... I hope you get out some of your punches and create something today using them...  I love all my punches... and need to use them more often...  make them available so that you do use them more often...

Have a super wonderful day... and create something GREAT for yourself... and share it with others...

Thanks for stopping by for a visit... and see you tomorrow with more goodies...

WHEELS on Stamper Sunday !!!

1922
Sunday Stamper is a great challenge…  I love the way that Hels creates and it is always so very HER…  love it Hels… keep it going…  I had a hard time with the Wheels theme…  but since I have been trying to work on my Mother’s scrapbook, I decided to see what pictures I had left that could possibly fit this theme… and Low and Behold…  a car… which had WHEELS…. I also wanted to include some other form of ‘wheels’ so I added the two die cut wheels… LOL…

I tried to add some  other forms of  wheels… like the circle a cup makes, a doily is also round… (oh I had so much fun making this… I used a piece of scrap plastic and put frosted film over it… and then cut it out with a die… yes one of Tim’s… and then I added Viva Silver paste… love it… as my mother was brought up with a silver spoon in her mouth…  (as they say)  )))

Of course I had to add the dragonfly, as I love them…  my favorite insect that lives around me…

So Wheels is a good theme…  I did have a little bit of trouble… but my brain pushed onwards and came up with this… hope you enjoy it… I had a lot of fun cleaning up my worktable from yesterdays fun… and found a lot of these things hanging around and used them on this page… (which by the way is 8.5 X 8.5 inches..  a nice size for a book… I will figure out a special way to bind it too…  Also can you believe the size of the car... would cost a fortune to gas this thing today... LOL.. but the back part of the car is HUGE...  that is why I put a tea pot and cup on the distressed tag... as there is room for a formal tea party in the back seat area...

Thanks for stopping by for a visit today… and hope that you have a creative and fun day… get messy, enjoy yourself… and play to your hearts content..

I am going to go create a nice dinner… as we are having company  over…  love to cook too…

CC3Challege.... Soar with the Angels

Today is the first challenge of Compendium of Curiosities 3... and I was very excited to hear about this challenge, as I love using all my Tim Holtz 'toys' and goodies... and also I love doing nice challenges... also I finally was able to obtain HIGH SPEED INTERNET...  So I am so very excited about that...  it use to take me over 2 hours to get 5-6 pictures up on my blog... and towards the end I couldn't even get onto my blog... so my life was becoming very limited on line... but NOW.. wow... what a new world has opened up before my eyes... It would take hours to download a new blog or website... and most were impossible to do, as there were too many pictures on them... so I am so very happy in many ways to be able to join in on this challenge... and others too I might add...

Well this challenge is unique.... you can find all the answers to all your questions... HERE     Linda is so very GREAT to do this challenge and this year she has added a whole crew of talented and great people from all over the world to help with this challenge...  what a great person she is... Yeah for Linda and the CREW...  I am really looking forward to this challenge every other week...

Okay... so here is my piece using this weeks challenge...

This is my finished piece... but I will go into each section with as many details as I can remember...  you see when I start to create I create.. and not too much stands in my way...  as far as color names, products etc... I PLAY and have FUN...  main goal..

I started off with my marbleized paper as per Tim's directions oh how to make marbleized paper... that was so very much fun, and I had to use up all the 'stuff' on my sheet that I made over 10 pieces of paper...  oh wow... not to worry I will use them all... but this was my very favorite one...  so I went over to my other table to proceed with the creation..... mind you.. each table is totally covered in debris at this time... what a lovely mess I made...

I have to tell you that this piece will be put into a scrapbook that I am making of my mother growing up...  there are so very many cute and wonderful pictures of her... I need to do that for her...

My mother just passed into the next experience on February 8th of this year...  she was 94 years young... she had some physical problems... but was full of life in so many ways... she wanted to create more of her art every day... it became a huge frustration for her as the days went by... she was almost blind, (macular degeneration) and yet wanted to make flowers, and make cards for friends and others...  but just couldn't see at all..
I should tell you that her name was Vivian Prince Riley Nelson  and her mom was Eva Mae Prince Riley...  who was a very loved woman in many places all over the east coast of the USA...  she grew up in Maine, went to college in Boston, and then got married and off to Florida where she opened a music school to teach others how to play the piano.... she had made her debut in Carnegie Hall NYC when she was first out of college...  a very proud, Victorian woman.  I loved her dearly as my Nana and mentor in life in so many ways.

This tag represents so much of what I am writing about...  for those who are actually reading this...
The ANGEL is looking over them all the time...  (to create the angel, I used Picket fence distress stain on my stamp and then stamped over it with Gathered twigs... )   love the look I got doing this...

The chicken wire is a stamp...
(of course it is TIMS...  what do you think ??? )
and it represents the fact that they were both able to learn a lot in life and move onto the next experience.. where they are hopefully very happy and creating again...  My Nana was a wiz in the kitchen... making a cake with a pinch of this and a handful of that... and then would go out and work on a handmade dress with a lace collar that she had made too...  so very talented...

This little bird is not just a simple little bird..
First off I put some frosted film onto a piece of recycled plastic from something... and on the back after it was cut out with the bird and cage die set...  I used my alcohol inks to color it...  I have a palette and used my solution pen to get the stroke marks on the birds body...love it...  how cute is that saucy little one...

The bird stands for my Mom and Nana's love of birds... pretty colored birds that they would love to look at...  both were fascinated with the colors, flying ability of the bird and also loved to feed them.

I used a Cabinet die cut to make the 'frame' and then used an embossing folder to create the design on it... one of TIM's folders.. but the name sort of escapes me at the moment... LOL... I think it is about 8 years old or sooooooo ....

I put some butterfly wings in the back of my Mom who was about 2 years old at this time... so this picture is about 92 years old... and my Nana was about 28 years old...  but I am not really sure about that age.. would have to look it up... ???

Anyway... I put the butterflies behind them to show that they were part of the angles who protect me in my everyday life here on the Earth Mother...  and they do soar quite a lot... as they are kept busy in so many ways...
The flowers I made with some of the marbleized papers that I had created... YEAH... you see I already have used some of it...  and then I attached some Rock Candy Distress Glitter to the flowers... had to show the glittery side of my Mom and Nana...  and the little pink bow... one of their favorite colors...  My Mom also loved Green... but really loved all colors.. my Nana loved Navy and blues the best of all...

The little lace at the bottom of the frame... is only about 60 years old...  LOL... I have a small bolt of it left.. from my Nana's sewing...

But I made the flowers yellow and pink... I have to tell you that the colors I chose to use on this piece were Squeezed Lemonade, Peeled Paint and worn Lipstick... as they were the only distress paints that I had...  I had loaned a bunch of my other paints to a friend for the week-end... not thinking that I would be using them for this challenge...  LOL...  so it was a tough one... not my favorite colors together... but I do love the green and pink...

The hand... is pointing to the word SENTIMENTAL... as this is sentimental for me...

So looking at the whole piece again... you will see two large wings... I love these wings and don't get to use them that often... but LOVE them...  a Tim Die Cut...

And they are for the whole memory to be lifted high into the heavens to send love to My Mom and Nana whom I miss and love VERY VERY MUCH....

So that is the general idea of my ART for this challenge... I will be adding this piece to a page that will have other art on it...  I will post that when I do it... but it will be a while... that is for sure...

Hope you have enjoyed all of this... and that you join in on this wonderful challenge...

Thanks so very much for stopping by for a visit... and hope you have a WONDERFUL CREATIVE DAY....

More clip art used

At times I do clean up my work table... and really don't want to spend the time cleaning... but I am having a class and need to or the table is too messy to work at... or some other silly and sad excuse... LOL...

But there are times when I have so much GOOD STUFF laying around that I quickly create a card in spite of all the reasons to clean up looming over my soul...

This was one of those times.. .LOL.. I had a border punched... and the background embossed...  both pieces.. the one on the outside and the inside.. and I even had green ink on the front one...  I had been talking to someone on the phone and had folded a whole stack of tiles... and even had the bow there that I didn't like the color on the other card...  I had the pretty pink flower clip art cut out too.... so this card literally went together in seconds... I did have to glue all the tea bag tiles down... but that took the longest amount of time... LOL...  CLEAN CAN BE FUN... you just have to have the right kind of STUFF to clean up... LOL... I sure did at this time...

The pink vintage flowers are on the inside of the card... and there is room to write on the inside of the front of the card...  always a fun type of card to receive..

Don't forget... I do sell 99 % of all of my cards... so if you are interested... let me know...

Have a fun day... packed with creative fun...  Thanks for stopping by for a visit...

TRI FOLDED CARD

Oh I know you have heard me say this before... but this happens to be one of my very favorite card styles using medallions... it is so very flowing and everyone who sees them falls in love with them...  I have not heard one person say anything other than flowery words when they see these... I have made many... and maybe you have seen others... (only in person... I don't think I have put any others on line...)  ??

I call it a Tri fold... as the paper is folded to create a tri folded card...

I use a piece of 12 X 6 paper... and fold so that there are three equal sections... You also need about that much space to play... love it... a larger piece of paper just would mean it would take me longer... love making these pretty cards...  With paper this size it gives you a section of 4 x 6 to play in...

Yes there is planning on where to make the peek a boo circles... and what medallion folds to use in each section...  You can use solid paper... or double sided paper... but you do want a sturdy paper... I have also used regular card stock... and then glued on other pieces of paper in each section for the strength...

Okay.. I will tell you more as I go along.. Maybe..???

Front of the card..  the background is two layers..  one with the Martha Stewart punching... and then a dry embossed layer over that....  the medallion is created for the circle that is cut out...  the clip art is from a gift card...

When you open the card.. you will see below...

This is just the card open one time...  as you can see the circle on the front is up on the top of this side... and another medallion is on this side... with of course a faerie of the flowers...  when this is closed... the medallion in the lower panel can be seen thru the front panel...  (sometimes the cards will not cooperate when I am taking the pictures... LOL)
But I think you can see that the medallion under is peeking thru in the lower panel...  that is what the purpose of this card is... the medallions are all peeking thru from layer to layer...  such fun...

When the card is open entirely this is the view you see...  three panels...and each one has viewing a couple of times... such fun and mystery...  is this card not fun... it is even more fun to make this card...  I love all the sections.. and have basically done the same with each panel... he MS punching around the borders of an embossed piece of paper... and then the medallion... simple ... well you know what I mean... elegant and allowing the medallions to POP out at you...

Hope you have enjoyed this one...
and thanks so very much for the visit to my blog...

Simple window card

This is truly a simple WINDOW card... you can put anything on the inside of this card... but I wanted to show you a plain one.. a picture of a family member, a special time, another persons thoughts... anything can go into the center of this type of card...

The background paper matches the tea bag tiles... when you have a CD from my collection of CD's on Tea Bag folding... you will be able to print your own tea bags the size you choose to make them... I made 1.5 inch tiles... and then the background paper is .5 inch tiles...  a huge variety of choices... 17 to be exact... with the little pesty black lines... or with out them... to be able to cut your tiles with a paper trimmer...  cuts your time down on tile prepping like you wouldn't believe...  GREAT... .

Thanks for taking a look and visit today... I totally appreciate you stopping by for a visit...  see you tomorrow with another fun project...

One medallion inside the other

I love to make peek a boo medallions... you see one... and think that is all... and then open the card... and low and behold another one is there... oh it is also part of the one on the front of the card.. LOL.. what fun..  LOVE IT ...

So I happen to have a FEW to share with you...

I am not going to go into a lot of detail with each card... you will certainly be able to see what I am talking about...

This card has the medallion below on the inside...  layers of medallions.

Pretty birds... love the colors on this simple card..

Below is the inside medallion... when the card is closed you can see it...

Pleats galore... simple card.

But this is on the inside..

Center of the medallion is in the inside..

Love the boldness of this card... the black really talks.. doesn't it..???

On the inside is this wonderful medallion that is below...
thanks again Penny for the directions..

Every single time I make a medallion...  I totally enjoy the folds, and the putting together of the whole medallion... really an art unto its' self...  love it deeply.. and I know that the gals I am teaching this art to, are also enjoying making the medallions...  such fun..

Create all day long... enjoy yourself totally... and have fun....
Thanks for stopping by for a visit... and see you tomorrow...
